The Inspiration for this Project

Journey to the West is a classic Chinese novel that follows the adventures of the monk Sanzang and his three disciples, including the famous Monkey King, Sun Wukong. This story has held a special place in my heart since childhood, as my grandfather would read the Chinese version and translate it into bedtime stories for me. Now, as a parent, I strive to share these tales with my own children, relying on Thai and English translations since I cannot read Chinese myself.

For years, I dreamed of visualizing the entire story in my own way, bringing its characters and scenes to life. However, the sheer volume of content and the data preparation required always seemed overwhelming. Recent advancements in large language models have helped bridge this gap, enabling me to summarize the story, extract key elements, and even verify details from the original Chinese version despite my limited language skills.

This project was born from that dream. Its goal is to bring Journey to the West to life through interactive visualizations, allowing readers to explore the original book in a modern, engaging format. It is as much a hobby as it is a passion project, and I hope it serves as a valuable resource for anyone who shares my love for this timeless tale.
