Negotiation with the Great Immortal

Five Villages Abbey

Wukong destroys the Ginseng Fruit Tree. Zhenyuan confronts him and demands restoration. Wukong promises to revive the tree if Sanzang is freed; a truce is made.

Seeking Help from the Three Stars

Penglai Island

Wukong pleads with the Three Stars for a way to revive the Ginseng Fruit Tree, growing more desperate after each failure and Bajie making comic mischief during their serious talk. The Three Stars regretfully say there is no cure but offer to intercede with Zhenyuan to extend his deadline.

Interaction with Zhenyuan and Bajie's Pranks

Five Villages Abbey

The Three Stars meet Zhenyuan and inform him of Wukong’s quest. Bajie mocks the stars and causes chaos.

Meeting with the Grand Thearch and Dongfang Shuo

Fangzhang Mountain

Wukong is welcomed by the Grand Thearch of the East. Dongfang Shuo (Master Qingyan) appears, and he and Wukong exchange playful banter about stealing peaches and elixirs. Wukong explains his quest and requests a cure for the Ginseng Fruit Tree, but the Grand Thearch refuses, saying there is no cure for such a spiritual root.

Wukong's Request at Yingzhou

Yingzhou Island

Wukong arrives at Yingzhou Island and meets the Nine Elders, who are enjoying themselves. He explains his quest to revive the Ginseng Fruit Tree, but the elders—like every immortal before—regretfully tell him there is no cure. They offer him nectar and lotus root before he hurries on, his hopes dwindling.

Encounter with the Black Bear Demon

Potalaka Mountain

Wukong arrives at Potalaka Mountain and is greeted by the Black Bear Demon, now a guardian under Guanyin. They exchange words about the Black Bear's past and current role, before the guardian leads Wukong to Guanyin.

Consultation with Guanyin

Potalaka Mountain

Wukong explains how he damaged the Ginseng Fruit Tree and failed to find a cure after visiting many immortals. He sincerely begs Guanyin for help. Guanyin reprimands Wukong for his actions and explains the significance of the tree. Moved by Wukong's plea, Guanyin agrees to help.

Revival of the Ginseng Tree

Five Villages Abbey

At last, Guanyin arrives at Zhenyuan's Abbey—after all other divine authorities failed—and with her unique sweet dew and a willow twig, miraculously revives the fallen Ginseng Fruit Tree. Wukong, finally humbled, helps by drawing water from the roots. Sanzang, Bajie, and Wujing assist with jade cups as the tree regenerates, and harmony is restored among all present.

Festival of Ginseng Fruits

Five Villages Abbey

The revived tree's fruits are shared in a celebratory banquet. All present consume the ginseng fruits, gaining immortality. Wukong and Zhenyuan become bond-brothers, marking the resolution of tensions.
